...a trip to the emergency room.
Caleb and Doug left the house this morning for their somewhat regular trip to the bottle recycling depot. An hour later I get a text from Doug saying that they're at the ER waiting for Caleb to get stitches. Was I shocked? Nope. This kid must be going through a major growth spurt because he trips, falls, and hits his forehead at least once a day... only today there was a metal cart in the way :( As it turned out, the doctor decided to glue his forehead back together instead of putting him through the trauma of stitches. When it was all said and done, Caleb was quite pleased at the fact that the doctor had chosen the glue... since he also uses glue during craft time at home!! Go figure. After they were finished, Doug told Caleb that they could go out for pizza(leftovers are can still be seen on his face in the picture)... he gave him the choice of Pizza Hut or the hospital cafeteria. Caleb chose the hospital cafeteria. Again... go figure.
Over the past week I had been contemplating getting Caleb a helmet that he can wear 24/7... until he finishes his growth spurt and all. Now I'm feeling that it may be a pretty great idea. I actually don't think Caleb would mind wearing it all that much... especially since his big cousin has been rocking the bike helmet lately. I'm sensing a new trend here...
OH OUCH! Yikes. Poor little man!
ReplyDeleteoh dear. a very familiar scene in my house. all 3 of my boys have reached the cracked forehead milestone. did he scrape his eyebrow too, or is that just yet to be cleaned up? I had a friend who had her boy in a helmet for a while. He had a big head and was just so clumsy. Many a mother-of-boys would see the sense of such a fashion choice if you so choose. :)
ReplyDeleteWOWee!
ReplyDeleteas far as I know, the scary looking eyebrow is just dried on "stuff" waiting to be cleaned. Once the glue dries I shall attempt to clean it... oh joy.
ReplyDeleteOh poor Caleb. He's going to have some good scars when he gets older! I would definitely recommend the helmet thing. If you get him one with a super cool character on it, he'll be convinced to never take it off :)
ReplyDeleteOh dear, poor guy! Hope he's feeling better soon! Glad to hear that his trip to the ER wasn't traumatizing. I can't believe the doctor used glue to fix his head...I've never even heard of that before! Very cool!
ReplyDeletePoor guy! Glad it was okay and the glue seems like a better option than stitches! Hope it heals fast!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Poor Caleb. Glad he thought the glue was cool and wasn't traumatized by everything. Hope it heals quickly!
ReplyDeletepoor kid!
ReplyDeleteoh no! Poor little guy :( Glad he's alright though!
ReplyDeleteCaleb (this is uncle Erik)... I wish i could give you a big hug. I'm sorry that you bonked your head at the bottle depot. That must have really hurt. I hope you get better soon. You will have a cool scar one day. I love you bud! I like cafeteria food also...
ReplyDeleteOuch! Have you been keeping track of how many inches he's grown?
ReplyDeleteMy kiddo has yet to grow a whole lot. Are you noticing Caleb eat a lot too if he's growth spurting?
