Fall Pictures

Last Sunday Doug, Caleb, and I went to the park across the street with Erik, Jamie, & family to snap some fall pics. We took some shots of their family and they got a few good ones of us! Here are some of my favorites from the day.

Here's Grandma with her three Grandchildren.

Such cuties. Aren't I a lucky auntie?

I think this is my favorite picture from the afternoon. What a sad face!

Here's my little man!

Well, it's week 2 of Doug being back at work. It feels a little strange to be at home with Caleb all by myself! How's it been going? Good! Caleb is such a happy and content baby. He's already sleeping through the night (most of the time), naps well during the day, and rarely fusses or cries. He's starting to smile and laugh, especially for Doug. Before the accident, I remember feeling worried about being at home taking care of a baby. I assumed it would be the most exhausting thing I'd do in my day. However, now I feel that taking care of Caleb and being a mom is easy! It's more mentally exhausting to take care of myself as I try to do things that should be simple-- like taking a shower (washing your hair with 1 hand is not easy, let me tell you), trying to do my hair one-handed, unloading the dishwasher 1 plate at a time, getting dressed... the list goes on. Oh well. You get creative and find ways get things done! I had an interesting Doctor's appointment last week. For the last few weeks I felt like there was something lodged far into my ear. One night I tried to get "it" out with my pinkie and realized that it was probably a piece of glass (it's my left ear, the one that would have been closest to the window that broke over me in the accident). I told the Doctor about it, and sure enough, he removed a pea sized piece of glass from my ear! It's crazy to think it's been in there for 3 months. I think I also found another piece that's starting to make it's way to the surface on my arm. The Doctors told me that I could have glass coming out of my arm and hands for years to come. Gross.
Well, Caleb's down for a nap, so I should probably take a shower before he wakes up! Hope you all enjoy the pictures.

  1. Wow, I never thought about simple things like doing your hair being hard for you. Elissa you are a strong woman and I am proud of how far you have come.
Your little man is getting bigger. It's exciting to see how much of a little man he is becoming! I am glad he's such a good baby for you. God knew what you needed.

  3. Those are fantastic pictures. You all look great. Caleb is such a cutie. I appreciated your words about enjoying being a mom. Sometimes it seems like so much work, its good to know its rewarding too. Relieves some of my worries! Tim's parents were in a car accident a few years ago and I remember his mom talking about glass working its way out. She said it did take about 6 months but it did stop. I am really sorry that you have experience that too. We are still praying.

  11. I remember after an industrial accident that really smashed one side of my Dad's face that he had bones work their way to the surface and eventually out. It's good to know that our bodies reject foreign objects; it's amazing how our bodies get rid of them.

You are looking very, very good. It is so encouraging to see and hear that you are getting more mobile every time you post here; your progress is quite amazing considering you need to relearn so much that we take for granted when we're healthy.

What a wonderful blessing to have such a content child as Caleb; the Lord surely knew...the pictures tell all.

  13. Thanks for posting pictures and for the update, Elissa. I think and pray for you often.
And that Caleb. Wow, such a cutie - and you've got him in a great outfit...boy's clothes are fun in that often they look like a mini man's outfit :)
Thinking of you as you are healing and regaining mobility. It can't be easy, but your (seemingly) positive attitude is taking you a long way...
    Take care.

  15. Honey, those pictures are amazing! I love the one of your nephew ... poor guy!
Caleb is just too cute ... I'm glad to hear you're loving being a mom ... I have to admit that I'm starting to have some fears ... selfish ones i know, but they're fears all the same. It seems scarey to 'give up' the life I know and love right now. Don't get me wrong ... I am totally looking forward to having our baby, but I think it's just the unknown ...
I think of you so often & I'll remember to pray for endurance as you figure out new & 'inventive' ways to get things done.
    Love you!
